september - Marta Mullaj

i. & if you asked me, i would pray for the universe i love so much to be wrent in two uneven halves & i would give you the bigger one. did you know that after october in 2000 there has always been at least one person in space? sit next to me on the hood of your car while you peel an orange & i watch your hands.

ii. we are staring upward at the sky while i whisper between your ribs the things i don’t tell anyone, what this world truly means to me, why i stopped writing poetry from the beginning of july to this very moment. you are not looking at me, instead keeping your eyes fixed on the black above us. i remind myself firmly that this is a daydream before i can feel the sting.

iii. let me become gun metal for you. feed bullets into me, hold me in your hands like something both delicate and dangerous as you aim me towards the sky.

let me sound like fireworks.

Marta is a poet and Catholic in love with written word and the world around her.
