Blue ink - Eric Huff
pull the freshwater leeches from my skin and dream of me as the Madonna and as the child. construct me in your mind out of stained glass. what color are my eyes? my body is made of the distinctive cream-colored bricks. dig just a little bit and you’ll find the clay that I am. I want you to watch me when I wade out into the river this time. I want to be fully submerged before you tell me everything I need to know to emerge. all I’m really wanting you to do is wait until the shadows that cast across the black surface of the water shift and reveal the answer to this. write it all down – what you read. place the note near the kitchen sink of my childhood home where the sun poured in each morning. the blue ink will fade and you won’t be able to remember any of it expect little pieces of the melody and how it made you feel.
